The hip hop version of “Ladies Night” is most fittingly my new year pick for That’s My Jam Thursday. I rang in 2014 with some pretty awesome ladies that I am oh so grateful to have in my life. Nothing like enjoying life with your girls.\u00a0<\/div>\n

I love this song! What a great combination of skills by Angie Martinez, Lisa “Left Eye’ Lopes, Da Brat, Lil’ Kim and Missy Elliot. \u00a0Kool and the Gang’s original version is a classic but this makes me wanna get up and bankhead bounce (yes, bankhead bounce lol). I remember knowing all of Left Eye’s (RIP) verse back in elementary school.<\/p>\n

All of the female MC’s on this track are some of the best of our time. These new kids could learn a lot. The video is uber awesome with all of the big names in hip hop\/R&B\/black entertainment of that time. And of course Missy did her thing at the very end!<\/p>\n

This song comes from the “Nothing to Lose” soundtrack that I have yet to see in its entirety to this day. Sweet nostalgia.<\/p><\/div>\n
