This quote deserves a post in itself but a girl has to keep some things to herself. Just know, I am much wiser in my dealings with the opposite sex. What looks good to you, may not be so good for you. Lesson learned.

Lupita Nyong’o said this best in her Academy Award speech. It made me feel so empowered and invigorated. After several unsuccessful attempts at finding a job as a news reporter, I eventually gave up that goal in 2010 despite sharpening my craft for four years in undergrad. Instead, I focused my energy on producing which I have developed a deep passion for. A few months ago, an opportunity arose for me to be on-air and there my initial goal was back. This time around, I didn’t want to do it just to be on TV, I actually enjoy incorporating my producer knowledge with my new passion for social media and natural conversational charm. Four years ago, I wasn’t ready. “You’re in the right place. At the right time, doing the right things with the right people.” -Bishop Phillip M. Davis<\/p>\n “Stop telling your big ideas to small minded people.” Steve Harvey During an episode of Super Soul Sunday<\/a><\/i>, Elizabeth Gilbert broke down the different types of women. There are mothers, auntie’s and the women who should never be in the general vicinity of children. I fall into the auntie camp<\/b>. Love ’em and send them home to their parents. The 5 year plan that I have for myself, doesn’t include diapers, teething rings or breastfeeding. Despite what the world tells me, it is absolutely normal to want to delay motherhood. As Elizabeth said, “It is very important that you figure out which one of those camps you belong in because tragedy and sorrow results from ending up in the wrong category”. Sometimes the best service requires listening. Everyone wants their story heard. When I am helping out the community, I make it a point to take in a part of their journey. If I can make the road a little brighter, I have truly done my part. You’ll have to stick around to see how this one works out for me in 2015. For now, I can feel a renewed sense of clarity. I know where I’m headed, I’m just praying that I’ll allow God to steer me in the proper direction in the new year and those to follow. 7. Spend Your Money on Memories, Not Things I don’t have the best car, clothes or fancy place to live but the money I’ve spent this year on culture and travel have earned me everlasting memories that I could never find in material items.
