When powerful women rally together for a dynamic cause, the possibilities are endless. First Lady Michelle Obama and the Peace Corps are behind a new empowering song to benefit girls with limited access to education around the globe. This Is For My Girls features vocals from Zendaya, Kelly Clarkson, Lea Michele Missy Elliot, Kelly Rowland and Janelle Monae. Also on the song are Motown artist Jadagrace and Beyonce protégés, sisters Chloe & Halle.
The cool part about this project, each artist contributed for free allowing all proceeds to go directly to the Peace Corps Let Girls Learn Fund.
Squad goals: when your friends are willing to work pro bono to support a cause near and dear to your heart.
Diane Warren (Un-Break My Heart) wrote the jazzy, militant vibe girl power anthem. She describes it as “We Are the World meets Lady Marmalade”. Mrs. Obama released the single Tuesday just before her keynote speech at the SXSW festival, discussing her initiative to improve education for girls globally. You can live stream her speech Wednesday (today) at 11:30 a.m. ET which includes a performance of the song.
Here’s a snippet of the song.

This is for My Girls is available for download on iTunes. A well spent, $1.29 if I do say so myself.
