I’m pretty sure I am with child after watching Creed last night.
Watching Michael B. Jordan’s muscles alone require contraception.
And he showed up and showed out for gray sweatpants season..
Naming his character Adonis was truly fitting. Only God.
But watching him get knocked out damn near broke my heart.
Creed made an impressive comeback gaining one of my favorite quotes of the movie: “Knock that son of a bitch down.”
The moments between Creed and Bianca (Tessa Thompson) are sweet, especially how he casually does her hair.
Every natural girl during the braid scene.
I’ll spare you all spoilers, and keep this blog post to mere lustful reflections. Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone are a wonderful duo. It’s like watching Rocky for the first time all over again. Rocky Balboa has aged significantly since the cult classic was birthed in 1976. Reboots and sequels can be tricky, often serving the original film no justice whatsoever. Even if you haven’t seen the entire film series, the story provides enough background to position you for Creed’s entrance into the boxing world.
Unlike others, the story picked up and ended in the perfect place, right on the heels of the 30th anniversary for Rocky IV. Although Rocky is way too old to reenter the ring, he offers a reminder that “Time is undefeated” and it eventually “takes everyone out”. The exchange of wisdom between characters, Creed and Rocky extend far beyond a match between an athlete and a coach. The premise of Creed revolves around fighting your only formidable competitor and crafting your own legacy.
As Rocky so eloquently put it, the only fight in life is “You against you.”
