Just a brief back story, Issa is a web series pioneer. Long before everyone jumped on the “broadcast yourself” phenomenon, Issa made herself known with The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl and a number of other projects. After years of perseverance, readjusting her strategy, crafting a notable production company and an immense following, Issa is a self-made entertainment powerhouse both on and off-screen. Her success in the last seven years is worth studying.

Co-created and written by Rae and Larry Wilmore, Insecure follows the friendship of two modern-day black women, Issa (Rae) and Molly (Yvonne Orji) and all of their uncomfortable experiences and racy tribulations.
